The Delegate Wranglers chosen for Facebook community programme

The event planner community platform Delegate Wranglers (DW) has been selected to participate in the 2021 Facebook Community Accelerator programme.

The programme aims to equip leaders across different sectors with the tools and knowledge to help their community to turn ideas into action. The Delegate Wranglers is the only events community to have been selected worldwide and will use the opportunity to promote the sector.

During the eight-month programme, participants will receive training, mentorship, and funds to invest in an initiative that extends their community’s positive impact.

One of only 10 communities selected from the UK, the Delegate Wranglers team will undergo extensive business coaching and training across the next eight months to help learn, grow, and scale the business for the benefit of its members.

The Delegate Wranglers founder and managing director Neil Thompson said: “We’re absolutely delighted and honoured to be part of the Facebook Community Accelerator Program for 2021 and excited for the journey on which we are about to undertake.

“This is recognition for not only the DW team but also for every single one of our members that make it the vibrant, impactful community that it is. Look out for the group going from strength to strength with our inclusion in this programme. It still hasn’t quite sunk in yet to be honest.”

The Community Accelerator is part of the Facebook Community Leadership Program, a global initiative that invests in people building communities. The programme breaks down as follows:

  • Selected community leaders spend five months learning from experts, coaches and a customised curriculum so they can organise and strengthen their community to work better together. Lessons include community identity foundations, leading action-oriented communities and sustainability. Participants will also receive early access to new Facebook products aimed at helping communities better manage and activate their members.
  • Participants identify an important initiative that will create a positive impact on the broader world and develop a plan to mobilise their community around their goal. Initiatives will be shared with an audience of potential partners, mentors and a panel of judges for the chance to be awarded additional funding and receive public recognition.
  • Participants then spend three months executing their initiatives. They will collaborate with advocates and leaders in the community space and work with the Facebook team to bring their ideas to life.
