TAG strengthens northern presence with new office in Leeds

Travel and events company TAG has announced plans to strengthen its presence in the north of England by opening its latest office in Leeds city centre.

The award-winning company has offices in ten cities around the world, from Sydney to Nashville, and has chosen Leeds as its third office in the UK after London and Manchester.

Established in 1988, the new office will have five staff who will become part of TAG’s 300-strong global workforce in five sectors: corporate, touring, events, private travel and film and media.

Shelley Brady, corporate managing director UK, TAG said that opening the new office, in one of the UK’s main business hubs, was “exciting news” for the company.

She said: “Opening a new office in Leeds is huge for us. I believe the city is the second biggest finance hub in the country and financial clients are a large part of our business.

“We want to diversify our side of the business and Leeds has many companies in sectors such as fashion, retail, and ‘start-up’ technology companies we would be interested in working with.

“We believe the new Leeds office will strengthen our presence in the north and our current Manchester office, which was opened five years ago.”

The new office will be home to the Leeds Corporate team, led by Gavin Watson as operations manager and Nigel Charlton as strategic account manager, who have worked together in the industry for the last 20 years.

Brady said: “The new office also brings together a highly-experienced team that were already based nearby, in a city that fits well with our future planning.”

Brady, who joined TAG as a travel consultant nine years ago, said: “Today’s corporate marketplace is complex and the competition is fierce, which is why at TAG we recognise the need to surround ourselves with the most highly-skilled professionals.

“The team have the skills, knowledge and connections to handle anything that comes their way, taking the best care of our customers and travellers, giving them a seamless experience from start to finish.”

In July last year Apiary Capital, a UK private equity firm, announced its acquisition of TAG, formerly known as The Appointment Group.

Brady said that in addition to corporate travel “exploding” in recent years the company’s recent acquisition will allow for more growth indicated initially by the opening of the new office.

She said: “There is a lot of exciting developments happening at TAG.  Apiary’s recent investment will enable us to drive transformational growth through acquisitions, investment in technology and people, as well as continued international expansion.”

TAG say that the expansion ensures that customers and travellers in Leeds will benefit from the company’s competitive airfares and strategic supplier partnerships.

The company has offices in London, Manchester, Leeds, Los Angeles, Nashville, Atlanta, New York, Singapore, Melbourne and Sydney.
