Sunny new outdoor terrace to open at Grimaldi Forum
As it nears its 20th anniversary, the Grimaldi Forum continues to adapt, improve and renew.
Last year Monaco’s congress and culture centre hosted 98 events and welcomed 250,000 visitors. One of the largest was the AMWC international conference on aesthetic and anti-ageing medicine, which attracted 11,000 visitors.
This year the Grimaldi Forum will host the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie and the International Conference of the IPCC.
The venue’s commitment to protecting the environment is as strong as ever and last year it celebrated the tenth anniversary of the building’s ISO 14001 certification. It also marked the renewal of this certification, thanks to a continuously improving performance: in the last 10 years, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco has multiplied the rate of its waste sorting by 2.5, reduced its energy consumption by 25 per cent and divided its water consumption by 2.5.
A major ongoing environmental project is the transition to 100 per cent green energy, in a building that will simultaneously become the Principality’s top source of solar energy. It has had 2,500 sqm of photovoltaic solar panels installed on its roof, which will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 130 households.
Glorious new terrace opening in January
The Grimaldi Forum is adding a 600 sqm terrace to its 12,000 sqm of exhibition and restaurant spaces. Set to open next January, this additional outdoor space promises to be a magical spot for clients wishing to make the most of Monaco’s exceptional 300 days of sunshine a year!
The ideal place for dedicated lounge and networking spaces, it will be able to accommodate outdoor cocktails and finger buffets for up to 800 people standing. The single-storey platform will be accessed directly from the Ravel, the main 4,250 sqm exhibition hall, and additional direct access will be made possible by the construction of an external staircase from the 590 sqm Le Génois area, located on the building’s second level. Consequently two exhibition spaces will open on to the terrace and offer complementary services to event organisers. It will also be available for independent use.
Designed to blend sympathetically with the facade, the terrace will be built with eco-labelled wood to meet environmental standards.
