Meetings Industry Association unveils trust and trace tool

The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has launched a tool for venues to better manage delegates’ information.

The miaTrustedTrace tool will enable event venues to manage delegate contact information easily and safely in one secure location.

The tool is available, free of charge to all the association’s members via the mia’s website. The tool has been developed by wedding-planning platform, ‘Guides for Brides’ but features a dedicated events section where all the necessary delegate contact information can be stored before and during the event.

In keeping with GDPR regulations, delegate information is automatically deleted 21 days after the event.

“We are thrilled to have joined forces with Guides for Brides to offer this tool as the latest resource in our package of reopening support for the sector,” mia chief executive, Jane Longhurst said.

“Their developers have specifically tailored it for business meetings and, as a first for the sector, we’re sure it will prove an invaluable resource for venues as part of their commitment to operating safely when we receive the green light.”

Via the miaTrustedTrace tool, if any event attendees test positive for Covid-19, the other attendees can be notified quickly and efficiently.

Alison Hargreaves, director of Guides for Brides, said: “We’d developed this solution to enable wedding venues to keep guests and staff safe and to comply with the new government regulations. As the entire business meetings and events industry will face the same challenges, it makes sense to offer the same solution to all.”

The mia’s has also released a series of other industry initiatives, including the ‘Roadmap to reopening and operating safely’ which has been signposted in the government’s Visitor Economy Guidance, remains available on the association’s website alongside dedicated Contract Guidance and the application process for the new professional industry-standard AIM Secure.

Venues which are not currently mia members can also register to use the tool for a nominal monthly fee.
