Meeting Needs sets £100k aim as it recruits team for Royal Parks run

Industry charity Meeting Needs is signing up runners as it looks to field a 50-strong team in the 2020 Royal Parks Half Marathon.

It’s the fifth consecutive year that the charity has fielded a team in the event. The charity has raised £70k over the past four events – and this year it has set it sights on topping the £100k mark for total race sponsorship.

The Royal Parks Half Marathon, which takes place on 11 October 2020, sets off from Hyde Park and takes in Green Park, St James’ Park and Kensington Gardens as well as a host of other London landmarks.

Kate Conway who is managing team recruitment for the fifth year running, said: “This year Meeting Needs is hoping to tip the total raised from race sponsorship to over £100k, having already raised £70k over the past four years and we need your help to do it!”

The Meeting Needs team is made up of event professionals from across the industry, with all runners receiving support for the race with a training plan and a fundraising guide. Last year a 32-strong team braved the mud to raise £27k for the charity in the Royal Parks race.

Also, for anyone that would like to support the team without having to don running shoes, the headline sponsorship opportunity is still available.

Meeting Needs secretariat Margaret Mann added: “Whether you’re a seasoned runner or, even better, have never taken on such a challenge before you are welcome to join the team. We’ll be offering a training programme, fundraising guide and team support along the way.

“If you don’t want to run but your company wishes to get involved then we are still looking for a headline sponsor.

“So, as it’s time for New Year’s resolutions; pull on your trainers and get training to raise money for good causes – you’ve got 10 months to train.”
