London’s Business of Events Forum postponed due to general election

The Business of Events Senior Leadership Forum, Parliamentary Debate and Senior Leadership Dinner, all scheduled to take place on Wednesday 6 November, have been postponed due to the upcoming general election.

The day’s events, which were anticipated to attract 200 attendees to The Mermaid venue in London, will be rescheduled for early 2020 due to the recently announced general election.

The next event in The Business of Events series will be at the IBTM Global Policy and Practice Forum, which will take place at Hotel Seventy in Barcelona on Monday 18 November and the Scotland Leadership Dinner, which will take place at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh on Tuesday 26 November.

However, the Business of Events Wales Leadership Forum will still go ahead on Wednesday 12 November at the newly opened ICC Wales in Newport.

The Business of Events Wales programme will focus on the UK-wide and Welsh business events landscape with a particular emphasis on collaboration between business events and key economic and academic themes.

Speakers will include Sally Greenhill from The Right Solution, who will discuss business events, economic themes and bidding for events and Rory Archibald from VisitScotland Business Events, who will outline the strategy behind Scotland’s award-winning “Legends” campaign.

Other featured guests include Kerrin MacPhie, head of business events at VisitBritain, Michael Hirst, chair, events industry board and Heledd Williams, head of business events at Welsh Government. Ian Edwards, chief executive at Celtic Manor Resort and ICC Wales will also be outlining the story so far behind the recently-opened convention centre.

The Business of Events is a not for profit series of independent cross-sector events designed to engage, support and promote the UK events industry.
