IMEX America’s ‘She Means Business’ set to drive debate on gender equality
The She Means Business educational event at IMEX America will address the issues surrounding economic parity and gender equality with the industry.
She Means Business, a joint event by IMEX and tw magazine, supported by MPI, will launch at the show in Las Vegas on 9 September at the Smart Monday event, a pre-show day of education before the main event.
“Issues around diversity and gender equality are more important than ever and She Means Business will provide women in events and their male counterparts with a platform for deeper understanding and action,” said Carina Bauer, CEO of the IMEX Group.
“The launch of this new conference at IMEX America follows two years of growth and refinement at IMEX in Frankfurt. It’s a valuable opportunity for planners to collaborate with and learn from inspiring speakers on crucial issues facing women today and – like all IMEX education – there’s no charge to attend.”
Doctor Mara Harvey, head of global UHNW (ultra-high net worth) Germany, Austria, Italy of UBS Switzerland AG, will deliver the keynote address at the event, where she will explain why actions speak louder than words when it comes to solving barriers to economic equality.
Harvey’s speech will also look at the root causes of the gender pay gap including the implicit meaning of semantics around risk and money and she will share advice for boosting financial confidence across the generations, including stories and tools for tackling the glass ceiling.
Other speakers include Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, Vicki Hawarden, VP events for the Society for Human Resource Management and Melissa Ow, deputy chief executive of the Singapore Tourism Board.
In the afternoon, attendees will hear from an expert panel of female professionals including Nelly Mukazayire, CEO of Rwanda Convention Bureau, Nicole Bowman, VP marketing and communications at IAEE; and Dale Hudson, knowledge and events director of the IMEX Group, about how to find a work-life balance.
The day-long educational session is free of charge to all IMEX America attendees. Find out more about the event and register here.
