ICCA UK & Ireland offers chance for first timer to attend Kaohsiung 2020

ICCA’s UK & Ireland chapter is once again running the ICCA Congress First Timer’s Competition – giving an early career event professional the chance to attend this year’s ICCA Congress.

The competition is open to all ICCA members with under three years’ experience within the industry, who haven’t previously attended the ICCA Congress. The winning entrant will have the opportunity to win paid registration for ICCA Kaohsiung 2020 and return flights from their chosen UK/Ireland airport.

The application process will follow the same structure as last year, with each applicant submitting a two minute video explaining why they believe they should be chosen to attend.

Competition co-ordinator Laura Tully of ICCA UK&I said: “This is an opportunity to get really creative, think outside the box and show your character and personality – we all know this is a people’s business.

“We hope you all agree that this really is a wonderful initiative and the competition will give the lucky winner the opportunity to attend a leading industry event where they can network with event professionals from across the world as well as explore the great city of Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei!”

The deadline for entries is 12 noon on Friday 31 January 2020 and all video entries should be sent to l.tully@manchestercentral.co.uk via WeTransfer, ahead of this date.

Following the deadline, three shortlisted entrants will be invited to present a 5 minute pitch at the UK&I Annual Conference which will be held at the ICC Wales on 11-12 March 2020. The executive committee will then vote and the winner will be announced at the close of the annual conference. The executive committee’s decision is final.

Tully added: “The standard of previous applications has surpassed our expectations and for those of you who were lucky enough to see the 2018 and 2019 winning entries from the SEC’s Lynsey Ackers and Failte Ireland’s Jack Owens, then I’m sure you will agree.

“On behalf of the UK&I committee, we wish everyone a creative and fun time putting together your videos and we look forward to seeing you all in Wales in 2020!”
