Events from Home set to highlight industry’s lockdown creativity
Event planner and industry content creator Amanda Thurlow has launched a social media challenge for the event industry. The Events from Home campaign aims to shine a light on the industry’s diversity and creativity at a time when restrictions have stifled activity.
Event professionals are being challenged to use their natural creativity and problem solving skills to recreate destination meetings, incentive trips and other industry experiences from home, share on social media and donate to Meeting Needs.
Destinations can use the challenge as an opportunity to highlight their destination and the unique experiences it offers. Incentive travel planners can share what they would have been planning or what they hope to plan post pandemic. Event planners can recreate client or fam trips. This challenge will really show the variety of activities that the industry curates and delivers, as well as why they need to be experienced in person.
Thurlow said: “If there is one thing the event industry is it is creative. So, let’s connect with each other, use our creativity, showcase to the world what our industry does best, while raising money for the Meeting Needs charity…. all from home.
“Usually event professionals would be delivering great experiences all across the globe but have been stopped in their tracks. Why not channel your need to be planning again (I know you are itching to be back hosting events) into this challenge to recreate a MICE experience from home, keeping within the latest Government safety guidelines for your country.
“You can recreate anything from the meeting, incentive, conference and events industry. Convention bureaux and DMCs showcase your destinations, incentive travel companies show us what you would normally be planning or what you have planned post pandemic, event planners show us your favourite client or fam trip experiences. The only limit is your imagination.
“Follow along on the events from home Instagram and Twitter accounts, where your posts will be shared, to see how others are getting involved. I am hoping this light hearted challenge will spread some positivity during this challenging time for eventprofs, while also highlighting how many different elements make up the industry and why we need to get back to planning amazing experiences as soon as is safely possible.”
“In an industry that never stops, it feels strange to have been forced to pause so I am hoping everyone will get behind the campaign, using their creativity and resourcefulness to raise money for charity and keep our spirits up.”
