DRPG acquires London-based Firehouse agency to diversify client base
The buy-out of Firehouse has bolstered DRPG’s position as one of the largest companies in the events industry, increasing the total number of its team to 340 people spanning across the UK, Ireland, Germany and the United States.
“This is an extremely exciting time for the group as we start our milestone 40th anniversary year by expanding our capacity and capabilities through this acquisition. Firehouse is a well-established, innovative and active agency, which we are very much looking forward to welcoming into our team and working together,” said Dale Parmenter, group CEO of DRPG.
“2020 is a big year for the group… where we will see over £2 million investment in people, facilities, acquisitions and infrastructure globally,” he added.
Harper spoke to M&IT about the benefits of joining the global communications group. “DRPG has extensive in-house resources which will help to enhance the current offering to our clients. We are particularly excited about the industry leading digital resource which is a huge growth area and means we can offer bespoke digital solutions to our clients. DRPG is also a great investor in people and the Firehouse team are very enthused about becoming part of their community.
Negotiations with DRPG began a year ago and the plan was to grow Firehouse. “We looked at a number of partners over a two-year period to see who would be the best fit and these companies varied in size and scope. As soon as we met the team at DRPG it became clear that we would be very compatible.”
Harper asserted that he is keen to retain Firehouse’s individuality. “We always wanted to find a partner who saw the positives in retaining the Firehouse brand and our own distinctive voice and style of working. This means our clients will not see any change in the way we manage our relationship with them but they will see the tremendous benefits in the range of services we can offer.”
Firehouse specialises in providing communication solutions from film and video, production as well as digital servicing and live events. Its roster of clients includes Kingfisher, B&Q, Mothercare, RBS, O2, Marks and Spencer, Thompson Reuters and Shell.
The agency’s film for Shell ‘Removing The Hazards’, won gold for best corporate film & video at the Cannes Corporate, Media & TV Awards. Firehouse has also designed and produced Christmas events for 12 years.
The agency organised the annual Christmas event for Glencore, the British–Swiss multinational commodity trading and mining company. The lavish December party was held at the New Connaught Rooms, with the theme of ‘Dangerous Liaisons’, bringing pre-revolutionary France to life.
