Cvent plans to expand workforce by 1,000 employees in 2019

Cvent has announced its plans to “drastically expand” its European footprint by hiring nearly 1,000 employees the year.

The announcement was made at IMEX Frankfurt, where Cvent founder and CEO Reggie Arrgawal told M&IT that the leveraging of technology in the meetings industry is behind the expansion.

“We’re excited about growing globally and hiring people because our customer base is growing pretty dramatically and that’s what’s driving it,” said Aggarwal.

“It’s really simple, the industry is growing tremendously and it’s increasingly moving towards technology. People are realising that technology doesn’t replace face to face meetings, it enhances it and brings a higher ROI and with that, it means more people are willing to do events with technology.

“Also, as people move towards technology we want to be the place that they go to. As we expand globally, people expect us to know each geographical region, so we’re going to continue to open offices because it’s important for us to know our customers.”

Cvent has announced it will double the office headcount in Frankfurt and will dramatically increase its employee numbers in the London office and Dubai office.

Aggarwal told M&IT the new hires will mostly be working in the technology team, which currently has 1,600 engineers, the client service team and the sales team. “As we continue to open new offices, it’s important we actually get our customers in there, so we’ll be growing our sales team,” Aggarwal added.

He also had some advice for prospective future employees. “We currently have 600 vacancies open, and as time goes on, we’re going to open more and more.

“I would say, find out if there’s an appropriate opportunity. We’re a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company. We’re looking for people to fill our offices in London, Frankfurt and Dubai for example, because we want to start building the culture within those actual offices.”
