CBA Events raises more than £14k for charity with boat regatta

The fifth edition of Dragon Bay, CBA Events’ annual charity dragon boat event held on Windermere, raised more than £14,000 for charity and saw a record number of team entries.

The Lake District event, launched by Paddlers for Life Windermere, has grown year on year with the support of Keswick-based CBA Events. This year saw 100 per cent of the event running costs covered by CBA Events, meaning every penny raised went to each team’s charity of choice with a contribution going to Paddlers for Life Windermere.

With almost perfect conditions, Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa provided the venue, and the action-packed day saw 15 teams compete head to head in a series of heats followed by the fiercely fought final race. Other activities included the team Hakka which was performed in front of a crowd of more than 350 and a tug of war competition. Trophies were awarded for the best fancy dress, most money raised, fastest time of the day, best team spirit, team of the day and race champions.

Tim Green, director of CBA Events, said: “We’re delighted with the response this year and the support, effort and commitment that teams have shown. We appreciate how many charity event opportunities there are, so we’re grateful for those that have chosen to take part in Dragon Bay. It’s important to us that we continue to raise awareness and funds for Paddlers for Life Windermere as well as allow other charities to benefit. We’ve loved organising the event as much as everyone has enjoyed taking part.”
