Business Events Canada promotes ‘leadership’ in innovative industries

An educational networking forum was held by Business Events Canada at Canada House, showcasing the country’s meeting, conventions and incentive travel offerings.

The event on 17 September was attended by 80 event professionals and ten Canada partners. Advice on holding events in Canada was given throughout the evening, as well as revealing the latest news and developments from venues, hotels, new developments and incentive options.

Alana Buchanan, business development manager from Black Tomato Agency said: “Having attended the Business Events Canada PreFAM to Whistler and Incentive Canada last June, I was really taken aback by the sheer level of detail that went into this event delivery for suppliers and agencies alike. I knew Canada would quickly find a very special place in my heart, but after this trip, I was hooked; so much so, that I returned a mere 5 weeks later on a personal holiday.”

She added: “I was delighted to catch up with so many of my peers at the Canada House event, the BEC attendees have so quickly become such great pals due to our shared love of all that Canada has to offer. It was great to hear “what’s up” in Canada right now and prepare for the incentive delivery season ahead.”

Emma Cashmore, the European representative for Business Events Canada, commented: “From the ease of access and great range of airlift to our world class venues and facilities, the packed, year-round calendar of events and festivals, and leadership across a variety of innovative industries, Canada is a natural choice for holding international events for European clients.

“With an ever evolving and dynamic industry, our Canada Week roadshow events act as a ‘one stop shop’ and creates the perfect platform where buyers, meeting and incentive planners can hear more about our offering, explore our destinations and find the inspiration for their next meeting or event”.

Technology, one of Canada’s key economic sectors, was highlighted at the Business Events Canada evening. Ryan Holowaty, chief operations officer of Noodlecake Studios, the indie game publisher and developers of Super Stickman Golf series, joined the event as keynote speaker.
