American Express GBT completes acquisition of Hogg Robinson Group

American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has completed its acquisition of Hogg Robinson Group (HRG).

The reported £400 million deal, announced in February, creates a combined group that is expected to offer clients and travellers a wider range of products and services, bringing together technology, people and a comprehensive geographic footprint.

Integration work will now move ahead, while American Express GBT will also seek to accelerate growth by utilising the complementary footprints of each company and leveraging existing infrastructure and technology capabilities. The HRG brand will remain in place as the integration process begins.

Joanna Macleod, American Express GBT’s EVP for traveller care, has been appointed chief transformation officer to oversee the integration of the companies, while William Brindle, HRG’s chief operating officer, has taken on the same role at American Express GBT.
