American Express GBT completes acquisition of Hogg Robinson Group

American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has completed its acquisition of Hogg Robinson Group (HRG).

The reported £400 million deal, announced in February, creates a combined group that is expected to offer clients and travellers a wider range of products and services, bringing together technology, people and a comprehensive geographic footprint.

Doug Anderson, CEO of American Express GBT, said: “The combination of American Express GBT and HRG will provide clients and travellers with an unrivalled offering. I look forward to integrating our companies and combining the vast experience and expertise of both. We’re proud to deliver enhanced value to all stakeholders.”

David Radcliffe, CEO of Hogg Robinson Group plc, said: “The two businesses are focused on delivering further value to clients and travellers. I look forward to working with the talented individuals on the American Express GBT Board, and growing a best-in-class travel management company.”

Integration work will now move ahead, while American Express GBT will also seek to accelerate growth by utilising the complementary footprints of each company and leveraging existing infrastructure and technology capabilities. The HRG brand will remain in place as the integration process begins.

Joanna Macleod, American Express GBT’s EVP for traveller care, has been appointed chief transformation officer to oversee the integration of the companies, while William Brindle, HRG’s chief operating officer, has taken on the same role at American Express GBT.
