Brighton has become a wellness destination, says Yellow Fish

Brighton-based event agency Yellow Fish is allowed to be a little biased when it comes to promoting their home town. Despite organising events on an international stage, Brighton holds a special place in the agency’s heart and Becky Shore, head of business development wants to share with you why the seaside city is an event planner’s quirky dream.

Bored of the usual suspects – London, Birmingham and Manchester for your next conference, team day, or incentive? Looking for an inspiring, creative yet slick destination? Welcome to Brighton…a breath of fresh air.

Alternative UK cities are often disregarded for MICE events due to access and innovation. However, Brighton is a hub of creativity, eccentricity and individuality perfect within an industry constantly searching for something fresh and new. Passionate about the city and its possibilities DMC YBrighton was launched in 2019 inspired to showcase this fabulous and versatile conference and incentive destination.

Check out five reasons Brighton should be on your radar.

Location

A top priority for any event planner is access. Brighton is located a short 30 mins drive from Gatwick Airport or a 25 min train journey on the Gatwick Express. Access is equally as good from the capital, with trains from London Victoria arriving at the coast in under an hour as well as direct routes from St Pancras and London Bridge.

A new direct train service connecting Cambridge and Brighton in just 2.5 hours has also now launched. A great combination of cities to wow international visitors. While also connecting Brighton to business hubs around East Anglia and everywhere in between.

Bye-bye bog-standard

Brighton has venues to suit any taste, budget and style. If you are looking for the classic conference hotel or a functional exhibition centre the city has it. However, if you want to push the boundaries and try something new the city is full of unique, flexible, inspiring spaces sure to engage your audience. Examples include:

  • The incredible Dome built in 1805 currently undergoing a £21 million refurb which can host events from 50 – 1700 delegates
  • Private hire of a contemporary bar overlooking the ocean on Brighton Palace Pier
  • Hire of the Duke of York’s Picturehouse – Britain’s oldest cinema opening in 1910
  • Visit the incredible AMEX stadium home to Brighton Albion football team

Not another treasure hunt!

Are you finding it hard to up the ante each year for your event social programme, team day or incentive? Bored of treasure hunts and cheesy team building activities? Brighton offers a variety of exciting experiences from a graffiti workshop or learning how to be a barista with a local independent coffee house to trendy Kombucha making and a bespoke bargain hunt style challenge through the famous Laines.

Wellness destination

Corporate wellness is in the spotlight like never before. The focus on healthy, happy employees has become a key focus for many organisations. Not only to improve staff wellbeing but to increase an organisation’s reputation for looking out for its staff and improving retention.

Brighton has become a wellness destination thanks to diverse residents who embraced yoga, meditation, vegan cuisine and mindfulness decades before it became trendy!

Why not incorporate a focus on wellness into your next event from yoga inside the i360, the tallest observation tower in Europe to relaxing in the various spas, gong therapy or a vegan cooking lesson?

Value for money

As budgets become increasingly tight and the importance of ROI growing it has become essential to maximise output from events. From an inspiring venue to content and engagement long after the event is over, getting the most from your event from location to content has never been so important. With London venue and hotel rates at a premium, Brighton can offer some exciting yet affordable alternatives, around 20 per cent more cost-effective than London.
