VisitBritain/VisitEngland has appointed Paul Black as its new head of business events.
As the former head of business events at London & Partners, Black brings a wealth of experience with him to the role as he takes over from Kerrin MacPhie who has taken the role as chief executive of the Meetings Industry Association.
In his new role, Black will be responsible for leading VisitBritain/VisitEngland’s business events team as it focuses on winning more international events across the UK, showcasing British destinations and expertise and helping to rebuild the sector. He will do this alongside Government and industry partners.
VisitBritain/VisitEngland exists to support England, Scotland and Wales’ tourism and business events sectors.
Commenting on his appointment, Black said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of head of business events and looking forward to meeting as many people as possible in the sector as I review how VisitBritain/VisitEngland should focus its efforts to deliver value to the industry.”
VisitBritain/VisitEngland deputy CEO Patricia Yates added: that the organisation is “delighted to welcome Paul to the role of Head of Business Events.
“With his experience and knowledge of the industry and his proven track record of sales and strategic consultancy. Following a difficult time for the business events sector, it is more crucial than ever that we are able to support UK destinations, venues and suppliers in their recovery.
“Through the work that Paul and his team will deliver, we are confident we can secure major international business events and continue to showcase why the UK is a leading choice for the MICE sector.”
