Fay Sharpe, founder of the mentorship programme Fast Forward 15, was awarded an OBE in the New Year's honours list for her services to mentoring women, gender equality and charitable fundraising.

M&IT editor Paul Harvey caught up with her to talk about what it's like to get an OBE, what the plans for Fast Forward 15 are and why she's setting her sights on the world of politics for her latest project.

On receiving an OBE: "It's a recognition of women within the events industry, it's not just for me."

On starting FF15: "I had quite a simple goal; to help other women achieve what they wanted to."

On her new Arrive in Politics project: "There needs to be more diversity in politics, women from not just middle class and upper class backgrounds."
