Regent’s Conference & Events opens for summer

London venue Regent’s Conferences & Events is open for the summer season after a record year of outdoor event bookings as it recovers from the pandemic.

The venue is uniquely positioned with four acres of green event space in central London, just off Regent’s Park, and has seen a huge shift in the demand for outdoor space since covid-19 hit.

The Secret Garden, established in 1904, is a magical hidden gem which adds authenticity and a sense of occasion to any intimate event with up to 100 guests, known to few and concealed behind foliage away from the main campus and hub of activity.

Buried deep within our four acres of landscaped York Lawns, this idyllic rural haven is available as an additional event space. Hireable for smaller events like garden tea parties, or as a breakout space for larger events on the lawns.

Explore the North Yorkshire Moors in a charming train

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) has launched its luxury event offering for up to 18 people.

Ideal for both business events, whether that’s corporate entertaining, networking events or team away days, the Great Western Saloon carriage is available for hire on a Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday lunchtime from now until October.

The locomotive was built in 1948 and has maintained its post-war era charm with fine furnishings and observation windows looking out across North York Moors.

The charter experience includes:

  • An exclusive return journey from Grosmont to Pickering on board the Great Western Saloon.
  • ‘Signalman's Buffet Lunch’ for 18 guests, which includes smoked salmon, cold meat platters, quiche and a selection of cheeses and desserts.
  • A dedicated member of staff to look after your group and assist with catering for your entire journey.
  • Pre-ordered drinks from NYMR’s drinks menu.

NYMR CEO Chris Price said: “The Great Western Saloon is simply magnificent, and such a unique experience and celebration for family, friends or colleagues. It’s great to be able to offer this to visitors who are looking for something a little different.”

The price to hire the Great Western Saloon with a set buffet for 18 people is £1,450.

Lime Venues Portfolio welcomes National Theatre to group

The National Theatre has become the latest venue to join Lime Venue Portfolio.

“The National Theatre will become a real jewel in our crown, the event space is gorgeous, it has one of those memorable views over the Thames with the stunning Buffini Chao Deck, one of the best places for rooftop events in the capital,” said Lime Venue Portfolio sales director, Jo Austin.

One Hundred Shoreditch opens its Californian-inspired bar

The Rooftop Bar and Terrace at One Hundred Shoreditch has opened. One of the few non-member rooftops in the heart of Shoreditch, the Rooftop is a playful while maintaining a sense of fun and glamour.

Taking inspiration from Palm Springs, the Rooftop’s pink décor, marble, succulents and cacti create a Californian aesthetic. The Rooftop’s views across East London are the ideal backdrop for an evening of Champagne and cocktails.

Specialist cocktails include the spicy margarita with Patron silver infused with jalapeno, agave syrup and lime, and The One Hundred Punch, with Bacardi Cuatro, Koko Kanu, supasawa, Cointreau, matcha and orange juice. Highlights from the menu include: cured salmon tostada’s, grilled king prawns, ticky jackfruit tacos, and a soft shell crab burger.

South Lodge sets its sights to become vineyard-hotel

South Lodge, part of Exclusive Collection, is the latest vineyard hotel within the UK as it plants 19,500 vines in May in collaboration with local vineyard and long-time partner, Ridgeview.

The announcement comes after Exclusive Collection’s certification as B Corp and forms part of their wider commitment to pursuing purpose, in the form of both social and environmental goals, as well as economic growth. Ridgeview is also currently going through a rigorous process to achieve B Corp status.

Exclusive Collection managing director, Danny Pecorelli, said: “Our visions are so well aligned in the wake of our recent B Corp accreditation that this project is more than just creating world-class sparkling wines, it is about exploring the long-term possibilities open to us when working closely with our supply chain to co-create a product from the very land our hotels are situated.”

The planting of the vineyard is a natural extension for South Lodge as the hotel looks to amplify the guest experience following the launch of its eco spa in 2019 and the arrival of the tennis courts earlier this year.

Glasshouse rooftop bar at NYX Hotel to open in June

Standing 10 stories up and 125 feet high, Glasshouse is 140 square metres with a capacity of 100 standing and 46 seated. The venue features specially crafted cocktails and panoramic views, made possible by the venue's glass walls.  

Opened in 2020, NYX Hotel London Holborn is laidback but luxurious in style and aims to continue this sense of urban opulence with contemporary art works and decorative foliage in the bar. Glasshouse has a retractable roof to make the venue suitable in all weather.

The space will also be available for private hire bookable via the website.   

Wyboston Lakes Resort completes £1.5m refurbishment

The Waterfront Hotel, Spa & Golf at Wyboston Lakes Resort in Bedfordshire has undergone a £1.5m makeover.

The refurb includes a renovation of the hotel’s reception, Y Spa Bistro, outdoor terrace and the brasserie and bar. Three new event spaces were also added, which can be booked either separately or together, for corporate events, private functions, events, and social gatherings.

A flexible co-working area under the resort’s Landing Pad brand. It offers an affordable and professional space with a choice of memberships, featuring meeting areas, hot-desking space and single-person booths, plus a kitchen and eating area to connect with colleagues and friends.

This renovation follows a £5m investment in The Willows Training Centre and The Woodlands Event Centre where both centres were transformed into high-tech venues.

Wales welcomes Mercure Newport

The new Mercure Newport Hotel is located in the city centre, at the top of the historic Chartist Tower. It features contemporary bedrooms, an open plan restaurant and an outdoor rooftop terrace at ‘Bar & Kitchen @NP20’, a Fitness Centre and a range of meeting and event spaces.

The hotel has 135 rooms and suites with views of Newport and five flexible meeting rooms. The event floor also has breakout areas, ideal for networking.

The hotel is located just 1.7 miles from the M4 motorway (J25), and 29 miles from Cardiff airport. By direct train, the hotel is 1 hour 40 minutes from London, 34 minutes from Bristol and 14 minutes from Cardiff.

The Venues Collection commits to
‘Green Meetings’ standard

The Venues Collection has signed each of its seven conference and training venues to the Green Tourism ‘Green Meetings’ Standard.

The Standard uses a strict three-pillar sustainability criteria which focuses on people, places and planet and is examined by an independent assessor. Each of the people, places and planet goals are assessed by five different factors including focuses on areas such as food, health & wellbeing, carbon, waste and water consumption. Each of the seven venues has started their journey to achieving the Standard.

Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island to open in 2022

Bringing the first Mövenpick property to Ras Al Khaimah, as well as the first Mövenpick Resort to the UAE, Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island is set to become a major landmark in the region.

Boasting 300 metres of sandy seashore and only a short distance from the bustling city of Dubai, Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan offers sea and island views across its 418 rooms, including suites and one-bedroom beachfront chalets featuring private swimming pools and terraces.

Swiss heritage brand Mövenpick will honour its Swiss roots and culinary heritage in this property by introducing six restaurant and bar concepts, including a day to night beach lounge and restaurant inspired by the summer season in Greece, a rooftop restaurant with views of Al Marjan Island and the Bistro & Bar bringing French cuisine into a modern and welcoming setting.

For events and conferences, the resort will offer multi-functional venues in addition to a 485 sqm grand ballroom and a pre-function area. Providing natural daylight and a capacity of up to 350 persons, the ballroom can be split into sections to offer increased flexibility.

Cyprus' City of Dreams Mediterranean resort to open in Q1 2023

Upon completion, the resort in Limassol will feature a sixteen-storey, five-star hotel with more than 500 luxury guest rooms and suites, approximately 10,000 sqm of MICE space, an outdoor amphitheatre, a family adventure park, and a variety of fine-dining outlets and luxury retail. Its interior design will be based on Melco’s international luxury standards, specifically customised for the Cyprus IR, while the exterior design will feature distinct Mediterranean influences.

The property will be represented by the Hotel Republic ltd UK sales office for the UK audience.

City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos property general manager Grant Johnson said: “Construction work is progressing smoothly and even though the Covid-19 outbreak has impacted our original timeline, we remain committed to this ground-breaking project while staying focused on the delivery of the Melco standard of excellence.
